Research Data Management Toolbox
The Library, in partnership with Melbourne Research, Research Services-Information Technology Services have developed guidelines and tools to help researchers better understand and meet the requirements of good research data and records management.
The toolbox supports Departments, researchers and research administrators in implementing University policy.
Provides researchers and research administrators with key information to support them in the implementation of the University policy.
Provides Faculties,Schools,Departments and Research Units with a framework for developing local rules for the implementation of the University policy. It is a guide for facilitating the dissemination of clear information and procedures to researchers about the management of research data and records in a single organisational unit.
Assists researchers and research administrators build a research data management plan for a research project. It is designed to be used in conjunction with other tools in the Toolbox.
This template is to be used in conjunction with the Research Data Management Plan Checklist. It provides you with a document structure to assist in building a research data management plan for your project.
Researchers should also be familiar with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. The Office of Research Ethics and Integrity (OREI), part of Melbourne Research, provides information, advice and training about these obligations.

Need some background to our policy?
The policy for the Management of Research Data and Records was endorsed by Academic Board in May 2011. The policy is now aligned with the 2007 Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and aims to accommodate changes in practices associated with the long term retention of research data and records.
